I'm back! And I've eaten a lot of risotto.

I'm back and I have lots of thoughts.

But the first one is: if you like risotto, you're going to LOVE Brazil. Risotto seems to be on EVERY menu there. Even little pizza places in the airport sell risotto!

Welcome home!
Good to hear from you. How did your language practice pay off?

Re: Welcome home!
It took me a little while to get into the flow, but from the get-go I was able to go to a restaurant and competently navigate my way through the whole transaction. So, yay!

Please note: the all risotto diet is not a weight loss regimen. I had dresses that were loose on me on Monday and tight on Friday.

I am seeing warnings about traffic and safety in advance of the World Cup. What was your experience? (I'm not thinking of going, just curious...)

Traffic is already insane down there and the World Cup sure isn't going to make it any better. With regards to safety - depending on who you talk to it's either like late '80s NYC down there or like the worst parts of '70s New York. To me it seemed more like early '90s NYC, when the cleanup had started but before it had been Disneyfied.
