I have been on a serious news diet for months and I still beat 99% of Americans. Either I'm not very good at being on a news diet or most people are terribly ill-informed.

That was an interesting quiz - most of it wasn't super recent news items, though, aside from maybe Snowden?

I think most people are ill-informed. :/

I think you're right. Also, I think part of it is that I really have a knack for multiple-choice tests.

10 right isn't bad. Got the Bachelor's Degree, the Dow, and the swing supreme court wrong. I should have gotten the latter right, but I blame Monday morning.

Blaming Monday morning sounds fair to me.

I've been mostly ignoring news, and I got 12 right anyway. The only one I missed was the map with the states; I saw California listed as one of them and figured, "Okay, then it can't be states that allow same-sex marriage; we still don't". Ummm, remember that recent Supreme Court decision? Oh, yeah! Dammit, I knew about it, but I forgot to mentally move us to the other column! Oops.

Hey, brain glitches like that happen! I totally understand. I was thrown by the fact that all of New England were in the same category as Washington and California because I thought for sure that at least one of the states still did not allow it.

I missed the SSM question, which is shameful. I thought there were additional states than the ones listed. I also got the DJIA curve wrong, doubly shameful.

Re: 11
I got the SSM only because I ruled the other ones out - I was positive that there were FEWER states that allowed it. Obviously, my assumption was incorrect. I just knew the other answers were more wrong, if that makes sense.

The DJIA curve I knew only because the market is a topic my mom and I discuss frequently. Also, because that was the point at which my Oracle 401K dropped to what it had been when I left the company almost a decade before. That horrifying picture of my 401K will forever be emblazoned in my memory.
